I have a distribution license for Adobe Reader Dc and need the DC Customization Wizard.   The link on the adobe enterprise tools page points to ftp.adobe.com

Welcome to the Wizard — Acrobat Customization Wizard DC for Windows

These links are dead since the Adobe pub FTP site now requires a logon.   You can no longer go directly to the link

   ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/AcrobatDC/misc/

This must have changed in the last few months.   I was always able to got directly to the  ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub in the past.

Do Privileged Locations Support Environment Variables?

As the title suggests, I'm curious to know if Privileged Locations configured via the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC supports environment variables.

For example, will it work correctly/as expected if one uses pathing such as, but not limited to:

  • %AppData%\Some\Location
  • C:\Users\%UserName%\Some\Location
  • %UserProfile%\SomeOther\Location

Many thanks in advance.

Continuous Track vs Classic in the enterprise?

Hi,

I was looking here:

Adobe Security Bulletin

Document Cloud Product Tracks — Enterprise Administration Guide

And I was wondering what path we should choose. We would like to lock down patches ie: we don't want it to update automatically, as we'd like to do some testing really. The fact that only the latest update is available doens't matter too much, if it means that we can schedule it as and when we please, and so that we can check the general firmware.

Also, I'd imagine you can just patch over whatever we've got already, instead of re-installing Adobe reader every time, and recustomising it every time?

Thanks

Difference between plain Adobe Acrobat DC vs Standard, Pro, and Reader

Hello all, I've got a weird one here. I'm running some reports in my environment and trying to fine out what Adobe DC is. I also have Adobe DC Pro, Adobe DC Standard, and Adobe DC Reader installations as well but the majority of people just have Adobe DC installed. Is there a difference between them meaning paid versus free?

Automatic update for Acrobat Reader DC does not update

I have a computer lab all installed with Acrobat Reader DC. Some of them are on  version 2019.008.20071, and some are on 2019.008.20074. We are having an issue with the header being cut off / trimmed when printing in Acrobat Reader version 2019.008.20071, but prints perfectly fine in version 2019.008.20074. Why is it that some PCs are able to update automatically, and others are not? How can I trigger the automatic update for all the PCs, and not have to manually update each computer 1 by 1? All PCs have the AdobeARMservice started.

Acrobat 2019 completely disappearing after iMac start-up

Having an issue where the Acrobat DC 2019 application completely disappears each day after starting up in the morning. I'm running a Late 2015 Retina 5K iMac with OS High Sierra 10.13.6.

Reinstalling Acrobat DC works until the iMac is shut down and restarted. I've tried running the update patch to version 19.008.20080, but this did not solve the issue.

I'm on a corporate enterprise account for Adobe CC, and other users are experiencing the same issue with Acrobat 2019.

Is there a way to re-install Acrobat 2018?

Hello,

I have a serialized copy for one user who will access multiple potential servers. When I attempt to deploy the product on an imaged machine, I am to activate and then production servers cannot access the software.

I've attempted to deploy using various articles provided but nothing seems to address this product specifically in this scenario.

Can someone assist, please?

Download for Acbobat 2017 STD, CustomizationWizard

When I log in to the Adobe site to download my recently purchased Acrobat 2017 (17.0) Standard and Pro MSI's, I'm given the same download - Acrobat_2017_Web_WWMUI.exe (same checksum as well) - which appears to only have the PRO MSI file. How do I get the MSI file for Acrobat STD?

Bonus question : Is there a current Adobe Customization Wizard that I can use to create custom transform files (MST's) to create custom installs for workstations (instead of users) that are installed by SCCM?

Turn Off Adobe Acrobat Update Service Windows 7 command line

$

I have about 300 PCs that I administer remotely.  These are all Windows 7 32-bit systems (don't worry, they'll be upgraded to Windows 10 by the end of the year) which I can ONLY access via ssh command line.  Any updates I run are via batch script.  These systems were very locked down for our users via Group Policy.  We used to have the system tray (aka the "notification area") hidden via Group Policy.  Due to a new app, we had to unlock the notifications area, but now we are constantly getting "you need to update Adobe Reader" even though when reader was originally installed, it was set to "manually update" because I've been manually updating it all along.  The whole point of my choosing the "manually update" option was so that our users wouldn't be annoyed and think they need to update their systems.  All these systems need to match and we don't want a hodgepodge of systems out there.

We don't want our users to see these update notifications.  It will only interfere with their work and they will let us KNOW they want them turned off.  I tried using a Powershell command:

Set-Service -Name AdobeARMservice -Status Stopped -StartupType Disabled

And that worked - for about 15 minutes and then the notifications were right back in the system tray again.

How do I turn these off via either a cmd line command, Powershell, or a reg key?

Deploy Acrobat Reader 10.1.3 via MSI Group Policy

$
0
0

The purpose of this thread is to identify EASIEST way to create/obtain an MSI file of the LATEST VERSION of Acrobat Reader (currently 10.1.3 as of 7/19/2012) to be deployed via GPO.  I am not concerned with customizations of Reader settings as I have accomplished this already using Group Policy.

It sounds so easy, but I have found it to be quite frustrating and extremely time consuming to figure this out.

Here's what I have so far:

To download the full installer from Adobe, you must first apply on Adobe's website to distribute Reader:

http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/rdr_distribution1.html

Once you submit the request, a short time later you'll get an e-mail with a link to download the full exe file of reader 10.1.3.

Here's a link that explains how to extract an MSI from this exe:

http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/2010/06/16/how-to-extract-an-msi-file-from-the-exe-

for-adobe-reader/

Even with following those steps, I do not end up with an MSI file which will install 10.1.3.

To try another route:

There is also an Adobe FTP site.  If you navigate down into the Reader 10.1.0 folder there is an MSI file.  Good - but it's the old version.

Capture4.PNG

You would think that if you navigate into the 10.1.3 folder there would be an MSI there as well.

Capture2.PNG

Unfortunately there is not.  However, there is an MSP file found in the misc folder:

Capture3.PNG

I have tried several methods that are supposed to combine the MSP file with the MSI file - they have not worked.

I have also tried several methods of modifying MSI files, and using the Adobe Cusomization wizard downloadable here:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4950

I am unable to end up with a deployable MSI file for Reader 10.1.3.

It's amazing that it's so complicated to deploy the latest version of Adobe Reader to my users.

Does anyone have a comprehensive answer to this simple problem?  I do not want a link to a document with 20 pages explaining the theory of MSP files.  I am looking for a concise, step by step method to obtain an MSI for 10.1.3 quickly and easily.

Thanks!

Post Installation/Deployment Software License Agreement Suppression Acrobat X Pro

$

I just stated with a new organization and we recently [successfully] deployed Adobe Acrobat X Pro (10.1.0.534).  However, we're receiving reports (from users and IT staff alike) that when launching the application, it runs for 30 seconds or so, quits then prompts the user to accept the Adobe Software License Agreement before they can actually use the application.  Having just walked into the door, I can't confirm it was packaged with the Customization Wizard, but that is looking less & less likely.

So, having deployed this to about 2000 clients, how can we go about suppressing (read: accepting) this Acrobat Software License Agreement at an enterprise level?  (We'll figure out how, I just want to know what setting needs to be in place to eliminate this prompt.)

AdobeSoftwareLicenseAgreementPrompt.PNG

In the past (e.g.: Acrobat 7, 8 & I think 9) we were able to suppress this via a registry like:

  • reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\VERSION\AdobeViewer" /v Registered /t REG_DWORD /d 00000002 /f >>!_BatchLog! 2>>&1
  • reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\VERSION\AdobeViewer" /v EULA /t reg_dword /d 00000001 /f >>!_BatchLog! 2>>&1
  • reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\VERSION\AdobeViewer" /v EULA /t reg_dword /d 00000001 /f >>!_BatchLog! 2>>&1

But I believe either in 9 or X (10.x) EULA changed to EULAAcceptedForBrowser and with this being a 64-bit version of Windows 7, I figured it would be in one of a few places:

  1. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\10.0
  2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\10.0
  3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\10.0

I'm seeing EULAAcceptedForBrowser in the AdobeViewer key in locations 1 & 3 above so I exported both AdobeViewer keys & imported it elsewhere, but its still prompting.

So, on a whim, I added the three bulleted keys above and when launched, it worked fine.  Yay!

After about 30 seconds or so, it behaves exactly as I described above: The application launches, you can work in it, but after at most 30 seconds, the application closes and launches the licensing agreement (PDApp.exe) again.  What.  The.  Heck.

So, experts out there, what are we missing?  How can we get this resolved without doing in place reinstalls or uninstalling/installing?  We have to keep user interruption and fatigue to a minimum, and another 'deployment' is just not an option.

Hello,

I receive the error message below when trying to install 11.0.20.

I have followed all of the instructions that have been used in our office the past.

My initial extraction if from: AcrobatPro_11_Web_WWMUI.exe (file date 3/7/2013)

I am testing the install by using the following before I try a GPO deployment.

C:\Windows\system32>msiexec /i C:\AdobeProTransform\AcroPro11020\AcroPro.msi TRA

NSFORMS=AcroPro.mst

Running Adobe Cleaner does not help.

this Adobe Kb does not help either: Internal error 2753 when installing Acrobat or Reader

Please let me know what additional information you need.

thank you

Perpetual License Prompting for Sign in with Adobe Acrobat 2015 DC

Last year, we deployed Adobe Acrobat DC with a perpetual license key with offline exemption. Within the last week, some users, less than 5%, have been prompted to log in when starting the application rendering it unusable. The current workaround is to uninstall then reinstall the software and we're looking for a better way. What is the best way to troubleshoot this issue?

Adobe Acrobat DC (2015) - 15.006.30456

Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise - 10.0.17134 Build 17134

Buttons inside the GUI of Acrobat Distiller are misplaced when deploying with German license. How to fix that?

$

My customer has bought two licenses for Acrobat Standard DC 2017 (classic track). One German license key and one "International English" license key.

So I have created two different .MST-files using Acrobat Customization Wizard one for each license key.

Both files are identical except for the license key used for installation.

Deployments are working fine, but when I start the Acrobat Distiller from the German installation it looks like this:

Acrobat Distiller german.png

In comparison this is the GUI of the english Distiller as it should be:

Acrobat Distiller english.png

No reboot or reinstallation could change that. I already tried to switch the Windows GUI, but no change.

The target OS-platform is Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit) patchlevel November 2018.

I have not found any comparable issue when googling, yet.

Has anybody got the same or similar issue and any hint how to fix that?

Block startup of Creative Cloud (Server 2012)

$

Hi all,

We are running a remote-desktop farm of around 50 users, only around 4 of these are using DC pro.

When each user sign's in, an instance of creative cloud and 'Adobe CEF Helper' is starting up (totalling to 50 instances of each).

Because we are running a remote-desktop farm, typical functionality such as msconfig -> startup items is NOT available (or such as in windows 10, going into task manager and clicking the startup tab is not available either).

I have also tried going into shell:startup and trying to find a startup folder in \programdata, but to no avail.

Is there a registry setting of value 1/0 that can be amended to allow/prevent this startup when a user logs in? Otherwise, I can only see setting up a group policy specifically for the DC Pro users to allow the program to run and block it for all other users (which seems a bit overkill.. hopefully there's functionality to manage this from IT perspective). Having each user sign-in and select the 'no not startup' is not an option.. because not all users have a sign-in to even select this option.

Any advice greatly appreciated,

Thanks
