Has Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service been fixed?

$

I have been reading through the posts about this service and have found that others are having similar issues a we do.  For us the hard disk usage is at 100% and the CPU between 50%-100% unless I use Windows 10 System Configuration to disable this service.  As we have thousands of computers running Adobe products we want to make sure we have the best solution.

Has this been fixed?  I have seen a post that said it is a know issue in 2016 but there was no response that it had been fixed.  If it has been fixed what do we need to update to fix it?  Can we just update one product or do we have to update the whole suite.  Our users do not log into Creative Cloud.

We use Creative Cloud packager to create deployments for our Microsoft SCCM server.

Problems deploying Adobe Reader DC GPO

Hi,

I'm trying to deploy Adobe Reader DC thru GPO. I've downloaded the package, take the msi, include the updates and customizing the installation with Adobe Customization Wizzard DC. I put it on a GPO and it installs right the first time. If I remove Acrobat reader DC and install again, it will not be installed again on the next restart.

If I try to install old version to know if it does the installation right uninstalling previous versions, it uninstalls old version but not install new one.

Can you help me? It's something strange, we have another GPOs for another software and we have not this kind of prroblems.

Thanks in advance,

How do you set Reader DC to always open PDF's inside Internet Explorer?

I'm having trouble with making Adobe Reader DC (17) open PDF files directly inside IE instead of opening the desktop app. In previous version of Reader there used to be a button in the "Internet" options under the settings menu that said something like "View PDF in browser", or something like that. However, in DC that option is no longer available. I have searched the internet for many hours, but I have not found any solution to the problem.
The PDF ActiveX addin in IE is already enabled.

Thanks

Issue Installing Slipstreamed Acrobat (Pro & Standard)

$

Good Afternoon -

A few days ago, I slipstreamed both (Pro & Standard) of our Acrobat X installation files for deployment with SCCM.  After deployment failed, I looked up things in the event log, researched solutions, and slipstreamed again.  Still... same error - even when running from command line & cutting SCCM out altogether.

Below is how I did it for each of the two versions.  Please tell me what's wrong...

My Acrobat X SlipStream Process

Copied Acrobat 10.x installation files to a folder local to my workstation (C:\10Stan)

  1. Downloaded AcrobatUpd1014.msp from Adobe's Product Update page
  2. Opened a command prompt as admin (running Windows 7 x64) and browsed to C:\10Stan
  3. Ran "msiexec /a AcroStan.msi"  Once opened, clicked Next then entered "C:\XStan" for target path.  Let it finish
  4. Ran "msiexec /a c:\XStan\AcroRead.msi /p AcrobatUpd1014.msp  Once opened, clicked Next, kept default path (C:\XStan) and let it finish
  5. Copied setup.ini from original setup file location to C:\XStan
  6. Ran Acrobat X Customization Wizard and opened AcroStan.msi in C:\XStan
  7. Entered Serial, User, Company, Silent Install, Suppressed Reboot, DIsabled Adobe Online & others on that page
  8. Generated Transform.  Saved as Custom.mst in C:\XStan

I copied the XStan folder to a VM with out Gold Image (Win 7 x64), opened a command prompt as admin, and typed the following command: "msiexec /i acrostan.msi TRANSFROMS=Custom.mst /q

The installation ran silently for a couple of minutes, but Adobe Icon never showed up.  I checked Event Logs and found the following...

Product: Adobe Acrobat X Standard - English, Français, Deutsch -- Error 1334.The file 'adobearmhelper.exe' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

I researched this error, but found that my process seemed to match what everyone was saying to do...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

One more thing...  Do I really need to use the Setup.ini from the original installation media?  Previously, I created a setup.ini which was completely empty.  When generating the transform, it added only 2 lines to it.  Below are both files...

Setup.ini Created from Blank File + Generating Transform

[Startup]

CmdLine=/sall /rs

Original Setup.ini

[Startup]

RequireOS=Windows XP

RequireMSI=3.0

RequireIE=6.0.2600.0

CmdLine=/sl"1033" /sall /rs

[Product]

msi=AcroStan.msi

Languages=1033;1031;1036

1033=English (United States)

1031=German (Germany)

1036=French (France)

[Windows XP]

PlatformID=2

MajorVersion=5

MinorVersion=1

ServicePackMajor=2

[MSI Updater]

Path=WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe

I tried using both for installation, but each gave same erroneous result   Thanks

How do i stop the Sign in prompt for Acrobat pro DC 2015

We are just after updating from Acrobat 11 to Acrobat PRO DC. Ever since the upgrade users have been complaining that they are been prompted to sign into acrobat. I have read that by using the "Adobe Provisioning Toolkit" that you can remove this sign-on requirement.

However i am having a problem with getting the "Adobe Provisioning Toolkit" as we bought the licenses via a re-seller. I do not have access to the Adobe licensing portal to get the tool.

Is this the correct way to remove this sign on requirement and if so where can i get access to the provisioning toolkit?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Trying to deploy patched Acrobat 7.0 via Group Policy Object

I successfully created a GPO to push Acrobat 7.0. Now I would like to patch the MSI file so that the computers in the OU will get Acrobat 7.0.7, not just 7.0. This is proving to be very difficult, however.

I have the following folders set up on the Windows 2000 SP4 server:

\\server_name\Acrobat7Standard\Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard\AcroStan.msi

\\server_name\Acrobat7Standard\7.0.5 Patch\Ac705StVP_efgj.msp

\\server_name\Acrobat7Standard\7.0.7 Patch\Acro707.msp

I tried running some commands that I found on other webpages but all they do is make a "Windows Installer" box appear containing some various switches and options that you can use. I tested the installation process at bootup and it's still not pushing v7.0.7.

This is a volume license installation using a volume license key; do I need volume license patches to go with it? If so, where could I get them?

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

How to restore damaged pdf?

My customer has recently encountered a problem when trying to open most of their pdfs that they have been referencing for years on their pc.  Reader has a popup box that says "Adobe Reader could not open 'file.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded

I have tried various programs to recover/restore/repair them, they all say the files aren't PDF files.  I have not paid for any recovery programs but would be willing to if they can demonstrate they can fix the problem first.

How to update or patch Adobe Reader DC without local admin rights

We are about to deploy Adobe Reader DC in an enterprise environment where none of the users has local admin rights on their desktops.  Updating and patching typically requires that users are local administrators on their PC, but that is not allowed in this corporate environment.  If set to install updates automatically, do you know if Adobe Reader DC updates & patches will get installed on these computers?  If not, is there any other way to get these updates installed, either by using an Adobe tool or otherwise a 3rd party solution?

After updating Acrobat DC to latest release, prompted to sign in.

I have created a customization install disabling the prompt to sign in...  Everything was fine until the last update release 15.006.30280.  After installing that the  Sign In Required prompt pops up.  The only way I have found to get rid of that is to uninstall all of acrobat and reinstall it.  I install the updates again, including 15.006.30280 and it works fine with no Sign In prompt.  I don't really want to do it on 60 computers.  Anyone experienced this?  Is there an easier fix?  Thanks.

Hello.. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.20.

When I am on a PDF that has bookmarks that goes to other PDF's.. I click on the bookmark and it takes me to the other pdf. Now when I click the "pervious view button (alt - left arrow).. it takes me back to the original view as it should. My issue is that the bookmarks pane is then closed and I have to click on the bookmarks again to get it open. Is there a way to have this stay opened all of the time?

*note* that when I first open the document.. the bookmarks pane is opened automatically.

Thanks!

Reader DC not uninstalling during install of Acrobat DC Standard

$

I am using the Acrobat DC Customization Wizard to create an install package for Acrobat DC Standard and want this to uninstall any version of Reader, including Reader DC. It doesn't and the Wizard even states this, letting you know you have to use setup.exe install method in order to uninstall Reader DC, but doesn't provide directions on how to configure this. I added a command to the setup.ini - /msi REMOVE_PREVIOUS_READER=YES but this had no effect.

Using this document: Installation options — Acrobat Customization Wizard DC for Windows

(which has later information than the youtube video Adobe has posted about using the DC Customization Wizard)

Scroll to the Remove installed products listing.

Any idea how I get Reader DC to uninstall during installation of DC Standard?

Thanks, Paul

Adobe DC Pro in floating virtual machines enviroment

We have virtual machines environment, where user doesn't have certain computer on which he works. Not all users need Adobe DC PRO, but the number of machines we have in virtual pool is bigger than DC Pro users. So we can't install and activate it on all machines. Is there any ways of install DC Pro in such situation? Maybe we can purchase server license distribution if Adobe have this option?

Where does the prov.xml go after it's created? Trying to install Adobe Acrobat DC on a Citrix Xenapp 6.5 provisioned image

We ran Acrobat DC in a trial which worked well so we bought licences.

Now we need to install Acrobat DC on our XenApp provisioned image. Where does the prov.xml file need to be located after it's generated by the tool?

I have run adobe_prtk.exe --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial="<ENTER SERIAL #HERE>" --leid="<ENTER LEID #HERE>" --regsuppress=ss --eulasuppress and adobe_prtk.exe --tool=VolumeSerialize --provfile=<ENTER PATH OF PROV.XML FILE> --stream.

Thanks in advance

Group Policy settings to control "Modern User Interface" for Digital Signing

$

Hey,

We've got an issue on a 2008 R2 terminal server where signing documents using Adobe Reader is causing app lockups.

I've found that disabling the "Modern User Interface" (in  Preferences > Signatures > Creation & Appearance (More…) ) fixes the issue - however I have been unable to find a way to control this via group policy. I've tried running registry / file monitoring software to find the appropriate key / place to control this from with no luck.

As per this blog post - Digital signatures simplified | Adobe Content Corner - it states this can be controlled via Group Policy.

-----

“From Preferences > Signatures > Creation & Appearance (More…) you can uncheck the “Use modern user interface…” option to turn off the new experience and return to the old one. This preference is active by default and can be controlled by means of Registry (Windows) and Plist (MacOS) preferences, so it is suitable for a custom configuration with automated deployments of Acrobat.”

-----

I have searched through the online guide in the enterprise toolkit (Acrobat Customization Wizard DC for Windows) and have not been able to locate the relevant registry key / setting to disable the “Use modern user interface for signing and Digital ID configuration”.

Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction on how to achieve this via group policy?

Thanks

Leigh

Opening embedded PDFs in Internet Explorer with Group Policy Addon Restrictions

$

Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17728

Running on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

Add-On (ActiveX Control)  - Adobe PDF Reader (AcroPDF64.dll) 11.0.11.18 Class ID: {CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}

We have an issue whereby certain websites that load embedded PDF files will simply not invoke the PDF Reader addon and load the PDF.

We are only experiencing this in Internet Explorer, other browsers such as Google Chrome, work as intended.

Loading PDFs that are not embedded load and work fine with the browser as expected.

We have a fairly strict Group Policy structure, which prevents Internet Explorer Add-Ons from loading, unless they are in a permitted list.

The Group Policy Object uses the following settings:

User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Security Features > Add-on Management

The setting 'Add-on List' is enabled - I have made sure that the Adobe PDF Reader Class ID value is on and enabled. It does appear as this on the machine, and as states non-embedded PDFs work fine in the browser.

The setting 'Deny all-add-ons unless specifically allowed in the Add-On List' is also enabled. This is the setting that is causing the issue. If this setting is disabled, then the embedded PDF will render and work.

I need to understand what other Class ID's are being called by Internet Explorer to render embedded PDFs and then add them into the permitted list.

The website in question is Key Investor Information documents | Legal & General Investments - selecting any the PDFs in the middle opens another third party website:

L&G Asian Income R Acc

This never loads the embedded PDF just the HTML title bar. Using the IE Developer Tools, we can see that the document sits as 'Pending' with an application type of application/pdf. Copying the link directly and pasting into the browser opens the PDF as expected.

Doing some research, I can see there are 4 DLL files within C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\Activex

I have found the Class ID values for these in the registry and added these into the Add-On List. This still has made no difference.

I'm sure its Internet Explorer calling other Add-Ons via DLL to then open Adobe PDF Reader in embedded mode.

Thanks,

Tom
