Unmatched exit code (1603) is considered an execution failure when i deploy from SCCM 2012 R2

I am trying to deploy the Adobe Acrobat XI through SCCM 2012 R2. I have customized the package with Adobe Customization Wizard XI according to our requirement. In deployment package i am using msiexec /i AcroPro.msi /qn TRANSFORMS=AcroPro.mst /L*V "%temp%\example.log" command but it gets failed on client machine. Since i am running the installation in verbose mode, here is log generated in example.log file.

When i run the same command manually on client machine from elevated command prompt then Adobe Pro get installed successfully. This is what confusing me why it is not installing from SCCM. I am using Domain Admin account in SCCM for deployment so user account privileges should not be an issue.

Disable automatic updates in Adobe Reader DC?<<

Adobe Reader and Acrobat updater settings | DC, XI

have followed the above thread as to disable the auto updater for DC as we have our own patching tools.

however, I am still seeing attempts of out going traffic contacting for the download of AcroManifest.msi.

Registry keys that have been edited are as per below

Windows x86 (32-bit):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\product name\product version

  • Windows x64 (64-bit): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\product name\product version

Replace product name and product version accordingly. For example: Reader\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1043-7B44-AC0F074E4100}

Under the key, set the ModeDWORD value to one of the following:

0:Do not download or install updates automatically.
1:Do not download or install updates automatically.
3:Automatically download and install updates.

Acrobat Reader X Disable Protection mode

Hi All,

i need some help with this freaky Acrobat Reader X version.

We have currently  ~1000 computers with different old versions of AR (form 6 to 9)

We need to upgrade to 10.0.1 version all PC's

Will use SCCM for distributing the package.

OK... everything here seems good but ... a lot of problems and erros appear.

First we've installed on test group of 10 pc's the AR 10.0.0

all users start complainig that they can't open the pdf's from our file servers.

Solution - bring the patch 10.0.1

After that all users start complaining that they can't print - Windows Error - Acrobat need to be closed !

Solution - Protection mode disabled.

My questions :

1. How can I distribute both the Package of Acrobat and the update together with SCCM

All my tries and reaings failed !!!

i've try different methods and no success

msiexec /i /q \\server\d$\Workstation Baseline\AcrobatReaderX\AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst" PATCH=\\server\d$\Workstation Baseline\AcrobatReaderX\adbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp

this do not work for me This is in SCCM program

2. How can i disable through Adobe Wizard the Protection Mode ?

I know how to do it manually but is not acceptable this way - i can't communicate with 1000 users to do this manually

I know how to disable it from registry with GPO , but i can't disable it before installation, also i can't disable it on all PC's after installation, because it will take several days to complete for all pc's and this "hole" of some days will stop the work of our end-users.

Any fresh ideia is wellcome. Also any help

Thanks

[Acrobat Reader DC] HKCU registry keys are not replicated for each user as for Adobe Reader

$

For Adobe Reader, all the registry keys which are added with the Adobe Customization Wizard are automatically added to each user. Unfortunately, it is not the same with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

They registry keys have to be stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2015\Installer\Migrate to be automatically added in the HKCU of the user at its first launch of the application. But they are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[RegistryHiveName]\Installer\Migrate, as we can see on the screenshot below:

reg.PNG

The problem is probably coming from one of the custom actions. The variable RegistryHiveName is not translated. I didn't make a lot of research, but waiting on a solution from Adobe, I made a PowerShell script which move the registry keys to the correct place:

Move-Item -Path 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\`[RegistryHiveName`]\Installer\Migrate\*' -Destination 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2015\Installer\Migrate' -force

(PowerShell has to be executed in 32 Bits)

If Adobe can correct it in the next version, it would be nice !

Copy Stamps for distribution thruout organization

All members of group need to share a set of custom stamps and signature endorsements (reasons).  I can't identify any way to export/import stamps and other preference/setup settings.  To complicate matters, group are individuals spread thru several companies and some individuals, all with own licenses (typical project includes Engineer (consulting firm), Contractor, Owner (DOT), Inspectors (CEI), and various manufacturers/fabricators.

Is there a way for the designer to EXPORT the custom stamps as file(s) and then the other members of the group to IMPORT the stamps into their copies of Acrobat Pro 9 (or 8)?

Silent Install of Acrobat Pro 11

Hey All,

I am using MDT to deploy Images and install apps.  I have packaged Acrobat Pro XI with the Customization Wizard XI and have used both  Unattended and Silent Install in the mst.

The below command starts the install but it is completely interactive except that my serial # and other settings are present so I know it is reading the mst.

command line:  msiexec /i AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroPro.mst

adding  /qn  causes the install to fail w MDT error code 1603 - Fatal error during installation.

Any ides?

Thank You

Acrobat DC crashing on Server 2012R2

$

I had Acrobat XI Std installed on a Windows 2012 R2 server running Remote Desktop Services. A user was having problems with it randomly crashing. I uninstalled it last night and installed a trial version of Acobat DC Pro as a troubleshooting step. This has already crashed at least once today. There are 3 application even log entries listed below related to the crash. The event ID 0 entry looks to be some event unknown to the Windows Event Viewer. Is there somewhere else to find info on that event?

The root of the problem looks to be with the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable. She says that the crash happened when she was attempting to add a new page to a PDF doc. Any suggestions on troubleshooting problems related to the MSVCR120.dll?

Adobe Acrobat XI Enterprise Deployment

Hello,

Does anyone out there have a straight forward guide on how to deploy Adobe Acrobat XI? The school I work for has purchased an enterprise license of Creative Cloud. I am drowning in information and just can't seem to get the process correct.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but it should be as simple as;

1. Download the files using the Creative Cloud Packager. Since I have an enterprise license, during the process my enterprise license key is entered, which should embed it in the MSI?

2. Once created, take a copy of Exceptions folder, and store it on a network share

3. Use the Adobe Customization Wizard to make any changes to the config and save the transform. This then creates a '.mst' file in the same folder as the MSI.

4. Install the application. From all the forums online, there appears to be two methods,

4a. Using the Exceptions Deployer Application as shown here Creative Cloud Help | Using Adobe Exceptions Deployer

4b. Using the MSI file as shown here Creative Cloud Help | Deploying Adobe Acrobat

No matter what method I use, after the software is installed it keeps asking the user to sign in using their Adobe ID. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry if I've come across a little bit frustrated, but I think Adobe have made deployment so flexible that it has made it overly complicated!

PS. The only time I am inserting my license key is during the Creative Cloud Packager process. I noticed there is a option to insert it while using the Adobe Customization Wizard, but this article Creative Cloud Help | Deploying Adobe Acrobat, explicitly says not to.

Dynamic Stamp.... (Adobe Acrobat Standard DC)

We have used Adobe Standard products at our company for a department for many years.  User's need access to a few tools, one being the stamp which traditionally grabs their user info.  I've discovered with the online activation portion of the software it appears to share custom toolbar button inclusions which is awesome.. however it also shares the user info traditionally set on each machine.  I'm using the same user ID for all of our installs.  Never been prompted for this with older versions of Adobe Standard Products.

So far I've installed on three machines and the stamp seems to follow whoever last set up the info for the stamp... which isn't how we want this to work.  We'd like each user to be able to stamp their name for accountability sake, so a user stamp stays set for the user profile on that machine.  Some machines have multiple profiles/users that will log in and be stamping PDFs.

Can we turn this sort of function off easily or do I need to dig into some sort of customization setting in the wizard tool?  In summary, the user stamp info currently is propagating to all machines with Adobe Standard DC installed... separate S/Ns but using the same user ID for Activation.  I suppose I could use different user IDs, but that would be tough to manage.

Why is there no 64-bit Internet Explorer 11 plugin?

Installing Acrobat DC standard or pro doesn't install the 64bit internet explorer plugin (acropdf64.dll). But when i install acrobat reader dc it does. The 64bits plugin is needed when enhanced protect mode of internet explorer is enabled.. When enhanced protect mode is enabled ie11 will run only in 64bits.

Hi

I have a PDF that I can open.

But the first page is blank, and the other two works fine.

I get an error message when I start the program

"it needs a font package in order to show this correct. Pls install the module"

Where do I find these modules?

This user has special settings to see better. They are using 150% magnification in Windows 7 and 1400x900 resolution on a 24" monitor. This will also look like this if I remote onto her computer with our ManageEngine DesktopCentral software. How do we get the main window of Adobe to be the correct size?

How can I transfer a legal installation of Acrobat 9 Pro to a replacement laptop?

I am trying to move my copy of Acrobat 9 Pro to a replacement laptop system, but the serial

number I have does not seem to work for the installation. It's XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX,

and I got it using Belarc Advisor so I know it's correct. But I get told it's incorrect. How can I find the "real" one?

This is a version from a company department license to Broadcom Corporation TechPubs, where I work as a tech writer.

Acrobat Reader DC - auto defaults to .PDF viewer

I work in an enterprise environment that supports around 1200 computers.  I have about 80 users that have various versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro installed on their office computers.

When we upgraded our reader product to DC and deployed it, all of the computers with Acrobat Pro installed had their default viewer changed from Acrobat Pro to Reader DC.  I have not had this issue with other previous versions of Adobe Reader.

I have the Adobe Customization Tool set to "Installer will decide which product will be the default."

Capture.PNG

It is my understanding that with this selection, the installer will set the default .PDF viewer to the most secure version. (of course this is going to be the new Reader DC program)

I have already found a registry change that removed the welcome screen.  Are there any other fixes, flag, switches that I can take advantage of to have the installer not change the users default viewer?

I have a lot  of users that work only with Acrobat Pro and get a bit upset when their default viewer changes.  Our technicians have to remote into the individual computers and switch the default viewer manually.  If we had to do this each time Adobe releases an update, it would not be a sufficient use of resources.  I would like more control over this.  What are my options?

Acrobat DC Enterprise Licensing on provisioned Citrix Terminal Server issues

Hello,

We are running into an issue with XA7.6 on PVS 7.6 and Server 2012 R2. I can key the master machine, but the provisioned targets are challenging users for the activation key. I downloaded the latest version of the Adobe Application Manager from the Using Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition link and installed it. After installing the tool (no errors), the adobe_prtk.exe utility doesn't show up any where on the hard drive. I found and older version of the tool and installed that. The adobe_prtk.exe file did show up, but when I tried to run the command-line string with the key and leid to generate the prov.eml file I get an error 14. We opened a ticket with Adobe over a week ago and can't seem to get anyone to call us. When we try to talk to support we get run in circles. It is very frustrating as you might imagine and the client is livid at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe Acrobat XI Pro - Silent installer

$

Hello,

I am trying to create an installer for Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro. I have used the customization wizard to create a transform file for the install and specified it to be silent. However, it appears that windows are still opening in the background when the installer runs, which causes my department's automated installer service to close out of the install thinking the installer is "broken."

The windows appear to be "Moving ____ to recycle bin" messages, meaning the Acrobat MSI is moving the setup files rather than deleting them completely.

Is there a way to change this behavior in order to make the installer delete the files instead of moving them?

The command is currently:

if exist [file generated to determine if a prior uninstall was sucessful] (msiexec /i "[PATH]Adobe Acrobat Pro\Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro\AcroPro.msi" /qn CLIENTUILEVEL=0 TRANSFORMS=[PATH]\Adobe Acrobat Pro\Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro\AcroPro.mst" /l*v "[PATH]\adobe.log")

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Drew
