How to Remove Register Your Product With Customization Wizard?

$

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to deploy Acrobat XI Pro with Group Policy to Windows 7 64 bit desktops on our domain.

It appears the GPO installed it on my test box but Acobat launches a 'Register Your Product' splash screen when it starts.   Have I missed something in the Adobe Customization Wizard XI?   I've entered the serial number and surpressed the EULA option.

Thanks

Rice

How to determine Which Acrobat DC version is installed? Pro or Std

I need to track which computers have which version for Licensing and update purposes. I use Dell K1000 for tracking and updating. With Acrobat XI, Pro and Standard had different uninstall registry keys so I was able to track them with a simple check for which registry key was on the computer. They would also show up separately in Dell Case stating Pro or Standard. However, With Acrobat DC the uninstall keys are the same and they both only show up as Acrobat DC in Dell K1000. How does Acrobat DC determine which version is installed and how can I duplicate it so I can count used license and install the correct updates?

Does an Acrobat 2017 Customization Wizard exist? (Not for Acrobat DC)

I'm trying to customize a deployment of Acrobat 2017 Standard.

Specifically, I'd like to remove all cloud storage functionality (like the Dropbox integration) for DLP purposes.

I see lots of documentation surrounding the customization of DC deployments but no mention of Acrobat 2017 Standard (or Pro).

Could someone point me to the appropriate downloads and documentation?

Targets for this install will be Windows 10 1703.

Ideally the customized installer would be in a format that can be installed silently.

Thanks!

Reader DC not uninstalling during install of Acrobat DC Standard

I am using the Acrobat DC Customization Wizard to create an install package for Acrobat DC Standard and want this to uninstall any version of Reader, including Reader DC. It doesn't and the Wizard even states this, letting you know you have to use setup.exe install method in order to uninstall Reader DC, but doesn't provide directions on how to configure this. I added a command to the setup.ini - /msi REMOVE_PREVIOUS_READER=YES but this had no effect.

Using this document: Installation options — Acrobat Customization Wizard DC for Windows

(which has later information than the youtube video Adobe has posted about using the DC Customization Wizard)

Scroll to the Remove installed products listing.

Any idea how I get Reader DC to uninstall during installation of DC Standard?

Thanks, Paul

Acrobat DC Enterprise Licensing on provisioned Citrix Terminal Server does not work

Hello,

we are trying to install Adobe Acrobat DC on a provisioned Citrix XenDesktop 7.6 Farm.

Installation has been customized using the customization wizard. As described here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/citrix.html

The Installation is working on the Server where the installation originally has been made. User don't get any Online Dialoges Product is activated correctly.

Since this farm is provisioned as described here:

Capture.PNG

New Server with different Hostnames start from the same Disk.

If users log on to this new Server and start Adobe Acrobat they are presented with a Dialog to Log In as if the application has not been customized or activated.

How can this Problem be resolved? Has someone encountered the same problem or even found a working solution?

Many Thanks for your support in advance

Prevent welcome page - Acrobat Reader 2017 Classic

We are installing Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 Classic in our environment via SCCM.

I modified the MSI with the Customization Wizard.

When i restart the Acrobat Reader several times, suddenly the welcome page appears.

I investigate the problem and found out i have to set "bHideUnreadMsgAtLaunch" at "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2017\AVGeneral".

After the installation the key will not write down?!

I tried to write in "HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2017\AVGeneral" but same issue!

First the message are not appears, even a few restart of Acrobat Reader the message comes up.

In the registry the entry "bHideUnreadMsgAtLaunch" was wrote but with the wrong data (0x00000000).

Has somebody the same problem and could help me?

I don't understand why it's possible to add registry entry via MST but they will not applied.

Thanks!

Hello Community,

I have a Problem with the Default Settings from the Adobe Acrobat DC.

I would like to install Adobe Acrobat DC Reader in the company. However, this should not be set as standard. How can I set this via cmd or registry that does not set this to default during installation or in later?

Thank you for your help.

Have uninstalled all CC apps and config files, and reinstalled several times. Even tried direct downloads of Reader and DC, but installation stops at 75%.

Even used CC Cleaner tool twice.

Deploying Adobe DC with SCCM

Hi,

I have logged in to Admin Console and went to packager to create an Adobe DC package with Adobe Creative Cloud.

I have downloaded the package and tried to run setup.exe --silent but get an error message that setup doesn't accept arguments.

I have tried to create a package in SCCM from the MSI in the Build folder but when i deploy the package only Adobe Creative Cloud is installed

I also found there is another set of setup.exe and msi under Build\Setup\APRO18.0\Adobe Acrobat so I am not sure which one I should use for creating my SCCM package, the doc says to use the one from the Build folder, but SCCM reports a successful installation while no Acrobat DC is present on my test computer

Hi,

We're unable to install Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2019 on certain devices.

We're using an SCCM silent installation, and on about 10% of the installations the installation fails with a 0x5(5) error in SCCM. This happens mostly when the Adobe Acrobat Pro XI has been manually removed via Control panel.

We're running English (US/GB) languages on our systems

The error it shows i :

DW071:

DW003: Third party payload installer Adobe Acrobat\Setup.exe failed with exit code: 1624

I've tried removing all registry keys and leftover files via:

Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

I also tried manually scanning through the registry and removing almost anything acrobat related.

And some other pages, on the adobe forums. But the exit codes dont match with what we're getting.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

AcroTray.exe has stopped working - Terminal environment

Considering the terrible way Adobe is reachable for support, I will try it this way with hopefully some results.

Our users have started getting errors using Adobe Reader X after the installation of Adobe Acrobat DC. They are getting the message “Acrotray.exe has stopped working”.

We have paid licenses so would like to request support on this matter seeing it’s AcroTray.exe, component of DC, that generates the error. I will elaborate our environment.

We have a customer with 50+ users who all log in on four Windows 2008 Standard x64 Terminal Servers. On this server they have multiple application like Office,

Adobe Reader X, and many more.

The customer requested to install Adobe Acrobat DC on all four servers next to the existing Adobe Reader X installation. After the deployment of DC, the users were getting

random Acrotray.exe error messages. Some get it when they log in to Windows on the Terminal Server and others get it when generating PDF.

We can’t reproduce the error using a test account on the same server as the users, this test user is a copy of a normal user.

Here are two examples of the Windows Eventlog: Applications.

Deploy and patch Reader via GPO

So here's the huge problem - I want to deploy a patched Adobe X1 via group policy

NOt exactly ground breaking stuff ist it. And yet this complex procedure is fraught with problems.

Firstly I really struggle with Adobe's not simply doling out MSI's for any update. It really complicates things no-end.

Anyway, Here's what I understand the procedure to be.

1 Download the msi, - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.00/

2 Msiexec -a it extract it to a folder

3 Download the patch - ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.22/misc/

4 msiexec -a -p  tpatch.msp to patch msi in step 2

5 Run customisation wizard against the patched msi from step 4

6 Copy transform to folder

7 Point GP at a share and deploy using the transform from step 6

Fails on step 4.

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the programme to be upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the programme. Verify the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and you have the correct upgrade patch

So try another patch

This folder ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.21/misc/ has 2 msp files.

Redo steps 1- 4 with this AdbeRdrUpd11021_MUI.msp- which failed to patch.

Redo steps 1 - 4 with AdbeRdrUpd11021.msp which seemed to patch ok,

However I fail on step 5 - Setup.ini is missing apparently.

Created an empty ini file and redid steps 1 -5 , but no joy. Still missing an ini file.

Can someone detail the correct procedure to get a usable msi that I can run the customisation wizard against so I can deploy this.

Thank you.

Has anybody managed to make msp patch work?

My steps are simply:

Using base MSI from Acrobat 2017 Release (Classic Track base release) — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products  I create GPO to deploy the package. This works just fine. But when I want to do an upgrade:

  1. I copy the original MSI base distribution directory to a new one and give it an appropriate name.
  2. I download MSP file e.g. 17.011.30059 Planned update, August 8, 2017 — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products
  3. I put the MSP to the newly folder with the base MSI and its files
  4. inside that folder I issue msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AcroRdr2017Upd1701130059_MUI.msp
  5. I get some gui dialog which I just click through with Next until it is finished.
  6. Then, in the same GPO, I add new Software installation and select the acroread.msi from the new folder.
  7. I click advanced, select Uninstall when falls out of scope and click Upgrade tab, the package is alreade there, I remove it and add again specifically with the option 'Package can upgrade over the existing package' as directed in Group Policy-Active Directory — Enterprise Administration Guide
  8. I add the transformation file as to the base package.
  9. When the GPO is updated and the upgrade installed, I get in event viewer the error:
"Product: Adobe Acrobat Reader 2017 MUI -- Error 1334.The file 'icudt.dll' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."

I tried various MSPs with the same result. One curious issue is that patching with the MSP creates additional folders 'Common', 'Program Files', 'System32'. Does the MSP patching actually work at all? Is there a way to just get an updated MSI without the problematic MSP fiddling?

No Pages Selected RDS Server 2012r2

Hi All

We are currently having troubles which seem to be random in nature printing only from Adobe PDF across three clients running on the below configuration.

  • Server 2012 r2 RDS (terminal Services) Hyper v instance
  • Adobe Reader 11.0.5
  • each of our three clients have a dedicated print server and all printers are shared network devices deployed by group policy.
  • Each RDS server has 15 to 25 user sessions

All users have no problem printing from any other app but when printing from adobe reader some users depending on the user and the printer (randomly) the user will not be able to print with the "no pages selected" dialogue box coming up.

For instance one user will log into their rdp session and will not be able to print pdfs to one printer. But another user can print from adobe no problems to the same printer.

Trouble shooting so far:

  • Re install Adobe
  • Ensure all drivers are at latest version V4 drivers where available and V3 where not. (Printers are HP upd and Xerox Docucenters)
  • pdf/a view mode set to never
  • Disabled Enhanced security mode and protected mode at start up.
  • Tested using auto rotate selected and not
  • changed the fit to page/shrink to fit etc options
  • Turned off advanced printing features on the printers.

If anyone could help this would be greatly appreciated as I am at the point of pulling my hair out and so are our clients.

Cheers

Luke

Adobe FTP Link for Customization Wizard

Hi Everyone,

I've seen threads on here for other people that are having this issue, but can't find anything current so I guess I have to ask. Is the FTP site still active for downloading the Adobe Customization Wizard? Every time I try to get to it I just get the Google Sad Face: I also get similar messages in other browsers.

One post did mention that the site needed to be accessed via an FTP client. That also resulted in a failure. Clonezilla returned the message: "Error: Could not connect to server"

One thing that also does happen is I get asked for a credential login (makes sense, it is FTP after all). However, Adobe doesn't mention needing any credentials on the Customization Wizard documentation. Are there credentials that need to be entered? Or, better yet, does Adobe have a link where this can be directly downloaded?

Thanks all for any help!

Installing Pro DC and DC Reader - Make Reader default Viewer for all users

VMWare Horizon Environment - Cloned Desktops created from Golden Image.

Adobe DC Pro and Reader installed in to the Image.

Adobe DC Pro installed for named users but not run using this:

  1. Log in to master image.
  2. (Optional) Customize the installer with the Customization Wizard.
  3. Install Acrobat on the master image with the following command:

Setup.exe  /sALL/msiROAMIDENTITY=1ROAMLICENSING=

  1. hut down the master image.
  2. Take a snapshot of the master image.
  3. Update all VM desktops using the captured snapshot.

Problem - PDF Viewer defaults changed to PRO for all users. What do I need to change when creating to keep users default to Adobe Reader? (or whatever PDF viewer the user currently has). Using PRO is an issue as only 20 of our 300 users actually have a named user license available to use.

Telling the difference between Standard and Pro

Hello,

I have to hand it to Adobe - I've never come across and application that sells 2 separate versions, with a cost difference of over $100, that they intentionally made it nearly impossible to distinguish between one another.

We use SCCM, and from what I can tell, Adobe Acrobat DC Pro & Standard both have the same GUID, version number, and display name.  How in the world are we supposed to accurately track our licenses?  We use ServiceNow's Software Asset Management module, integrated with SCCM, to manage software licenses.  It can't tell a difference, and even I as a human, and a 10 year IT Pro, can't either.

Can someone please tell me how I am to accurately manage my Acrobat DC software licenses?

Thank you

How to Remove All First Run Prompts for Adobe Reader DC

$

Hi,

I'm deploying Windows 10 images this summer to classroom and lab computers. Unlike every other modern operating system available today, Windows 10 does not offer native PDF capability. We're specifically rolling-out the LTSB version of Windows 10 for privacy concerns, which does not include the Edge web browser. As a result of this, I have built Adobe Reader DC into the image along with many other software titles.

Each time a user logs into Windows, they're doing so for the first time. Per policy, all user profiles stored on public computers must be removed at the end of that user's session. Everyone who uses these PCs is doing so for the first time. As a result, when Reader is opened, the user is bombarded with an onslaught of first-run dialogs and prompts that exceeds all patients. There are those for choosing the default PDF handler, determine the accessibility settings, and the UI's color scheme. All of these items placed into a first-run experience are asinine for a user profile that would persist on the file system, let alone for one that is created and removed every time someone logs into Windows.

When I created the image, I answered ALL of these first-run questions for the default user's profile prior to copying that profile with sysprep. To help ensure these insidious little annoyances do not appear ever again, I added the ADMX GPO template files to our central store in our domain, and configured the desired settings. To silence the PDF handler question, that STILL appears, I created a custom registry key and deployed it with a GPO to prevent this question from ever being asked again. ALL of these steps were for naught. Despite the customized default user profile, the GPO, and the registry changes, users are still spending close to five minutes answering Reader's inane first-run questions. Despite all of that, they still want Reader as their PDF viewer on Windows.

Aside from ranting, my question is there a resource, tutorial, website that details how to fix all of this? My users and I just need Reader to open when selected, or open when a PDF is double-clicked, no questions asked. I am positive that I am not the only one in this situation. If it makes any difference I use MDT 2013 U2 to deploy the images and IBM BigFix to manage patches for Adobe Reader DC and other products. I appreciate any advice or information anyone might have on this subject and apologize for the rant.

Thank you

Hello Community,

I have a Problem with the Default Settings from the Adobe Acrobat DC.

I would like to install Adobe Acrobat DC Reader in the company. However, this should not be set as standard. How can I set this via cmd or registry that does not set this to default during installation or in later?

Thank you for your help.
