error 103:103

Hi there,

We have installed Acrobat Reader DC v. 2017 2017.012.20093 on WIn2k8 R2 servers. Many users who are connecting the server with remote desktop/Citrix Xenapp get the 103:103 error when launching Acrobat Reader. All the internet is talking about blanking the "Enable Protected Mode at startup" setting in the 'Security (Enhanced)' panel. The fact is that when doing that, it's not possible to launch Acrobat Reader anymore.

The same happens with newest DC version.

Any idea about that?

Many thanks!

How to set Adobe as default PDF viewer (Windows 10)

Hello,

Looking to see if anyone has come up with a solution for Windows 10 and edge taking over the PDF file association. We've installed Adobe Acrobat Pro on our systems, set the default PDF viewer as Adobe, then for some users it will revert back to Edge. I know that is has to do with registry scanning and Windows seeing that it's changed and tries to fix this for you and reverts it back to Edge again. You use to be able to fix this pretty easily with GPO's but with Windows 10 (from what I read) things have changed quite a bit. I have played around with XML files to fix the association but from what I understand this only works with a new profile on first log on.

Anyone have any solutions, suggestions?

Adobe Acrobat SharePoint OpenDocuments Component

Ok so I've got a SharePoint 2013 environment on Server 2012 R2 and Adobe Acrobat 2017 standard edition on Windows 10

Working with Microsoft I've tweaked SharePoint so that when you click on a link to a pdf within SharePoint then it opens within Adobe Acrobat outside of the browser without issue.

When I select the same file and click edit though I get a pop-up message saying "We're sorry, we couldn't find a program to open this document".

According to the Microsoft tech the outstanding edit issue is because in the Manage-Add On section of IE / Edge the add on "Adobe Acrobat SharePoint OpenDocuments Component" is installed, but disabled and the option to enable is greyed out.

He indicates if I can get this add-on to work my error should go away. The difficult part is this is deployed enterprise why so I have to come up with a deployable solution.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How can I get Adobe Acrobat SharePoint opendocuments component plug-in? It does not show in IE11 All Add-ons

I am trying to get PDFs to open in either Adobe Pro or Reader from within SharePoint. It seems like the only viable alternative is to install the Adobe Acrobat SharePoint opendocuments component on our systems.  I have looked online to find the plugin but cannot locate it.  There was a posting that I read, that suggested that it is installed during the Adobe install.  It was not installed on my system, and I cannot find it anywhere in the IE 11 Add-On manager looking at All Add-Ons. Another post said that the add-on would become visible once a SharePoint document is opened. That does not happen. Another post recommended that the DOCIcon.xml file should be modified. That cannot happen, as modifying that file changes the PDF opening behavior on the entire Farm, and I want this to be limited to just one site. Thoughts?

Cannot ENABLE SharePoint Integration.

Our organization has a Sharepoint 2013 deployment and uses Acrobat Pro XI.  We use document libraries with with check in/check out and verioning enabled.  When opening a PDF from within a library, the document opens in Acrobat without issue but we do not receive any prompts to check the document out.  This prevents us even from manually checking out the document in sharepoint, opening the document, saving the document back to sharepoint because Acrobat tries to save it to a local AppData Temp directory.   I've seen a thousand answered posts about how to DISABLE SharePoint integration, but I'm just looking to get this functionality in the first place.  The problem could be related to a SharePoint setting but I cannot cind such a setting.  Our office documents prompt for checkout when opened as they should - Just not PDFs.

***Some additional information:  From Acrobat, if I click  File>Open, then select "open from online account"  and connect to my sharepoint server I can check in and out, but some of our libraries are over 9GB and cause Acrobat to crash every time I try to open the library, so this is apparently not an option for us (although it would be nice!!!).

Thanks!

The following error is produced in Acrobat when trying to click version history documents in SharePoint 2010. "The URL you have provided could not be reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable." The revision of the document is reachable, but through typical HTTP via a web browser...but not through the SharePoint <==> Acrobat X Pro COM object magic that works fine for currently checked out documents. Please see inserted image. Thoughts on a fix?

We have 4 identical terminal servers and one is producing this error seconds after opening a PDF.  It occurs with local files and files from a file server.  The error can be minimized and the user can still work with the program.  This happens will all users both admin and non-admin.  Protected View is turned off and we're using Acrobat Standard DC 2015.  Thanks in advanced for your help.

What are the current SCUP catalog urls for Reader DC /10/11 and Adobe Acrobat?

Dear all,

I have trouble publishing updates with SCUP right now. Catalog for Adobe flash player works fine, but all reader and Adobe Acrobat catalogs seem to wrong.

As advised on this website SCCM-SCUP — Enterprise Administration Guide  I used the catalog adress http://armmf.adobe.com/manifest/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/AcrobatCatalog-2015.cab  for publishing the Reader DC.

Import works, but when trying to publish I get the following error in MS SCUP:

PublishItem: Download Content: Failed to download file 'http://armdl.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/Acrobat2015/1500630243/Acrobat2015Upd15006302 43.msp'.

What's the correct catalog adress for Reader DC/10/11 and Adobe Acrobat 10 and 11?

Thanks a lot!

PDF User preferences with Roaming User Profiles

$

Hello,

We are having an issue in our environment that we haven't been able to resolve. We are running Windows Server 2012 R2 terminal servers and users are using Roaming profiles. The issue we are having is that if there is more than one PDF viewer installed on the terminal servers (Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader for example) when the user chooses a default PDF application, once they log off and back on, that default preference is lost. They once again have to select their default PDF viewer, every time they log in. If there is only one PDF application installed on the server, the setting is retained without an issue. Also, if you use a local profile, even with multiple PDF viewers installed, the default setting is retained without an issue. We've tried using GPP to set the registry key to set the default viewer, however, the value has a Deny Write value applied to it. We've also tried scripting an export and import of they key upon logoff and logon respectively, however, the same issue prevents that (the deny write value on the registry). HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.pdf\UserCh oice\Progid

We've contacted Microsoft support, and they told us this was a 3rd party issue because the only file extension with this problem is the .pdf file extension. We also setup a test environment with only roaming profiles GPO setup and were able to duplicate the issue and make sure there wasn't a GPO causing this problem. Any help or guidance you could provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

How to Remove Register Your Product With Customization Wizard?

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to deploy Acrobat XI Pro with Group Policy to Windows 7 64 bit desktops on our domain.

It appears the GPO installed it on my test box but Acobat launches a 'Register Your Product' splash screen when it starts.   Have I missed something in the Adobe Customization Wizard XI?   I've entered the serial number and surpressed the EULA option.

Thanks

Update Acrobat Reader 11.0.0 to Version 2018.011.20055

Dear members,

I would like to update the adobe reader in our company environment from version 11.0.0 to version 2018.011.20055. Since we want to distribute the software via SCCM, I have to build a package for it. I have already submitted an inquiry to Adobe to get the update version. All the updates I got from adobe do not work on our systems. I constantly get the error message that the upgrade patch is not suitable or that something is missing to install this patch.
Since I somehow need the latest update on my clients, I have downloaded an offline installer from the Internet and didnt get any Errors by updating the Adobe Reader DC 2018.011.20055. Problem here, however, is that the updated adobe only has the languages German and English available. However, we need all the languages Adobe has available as we are a global company. Can someone help me find the right installation resources or language pack resources?

-We are using Windows 7/10 in our Environment.

Thank you very much and best regards!

How to determine Which Acrobat DC version is installed? Pro or Std

$

I need to track which computers have which version for Licensing and update purposes. I use Dell K1000 for tracking and updating. With Acrobat XI, Pro and Standard had different uninstall registry keys so I was able to track them with a simple check for which registry key was on the computer. They would also show up separately in Dell Case stating Pro or Standard. However, With Acrobat DC the uninstall keys are the same and they both only show up as Acrobat DC in Dell K1000. How does Acrobat DC determine which version is installed and how can I duplicate it so I can count used license and install the correct updates?

I've deployed Adobe Reader DC using the msi and transform created with the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC.

It install fine but when users first run Reader they are prompted for an administrator credentials because the program C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\ADelRCP.exe is trying to run.

Our users do have local admin rights.  How do I prevent this popup occuring on Reader startup and what does this ADelRCP.exe do?

We have deployed Adobe Arcrobat Pro 2017 via customisation wizard, but having issues with what file path we need to allow within Windows 10 to allow for updates

Hi, we have deployed Adobe Acrobat 2017 via customisation wizard, which is working fine. But we are having issues with knowing what file path we need to allow within Windows 10 to allow for Adobe updates to install, without being logged on as an admin user.  As we use software restriction policies on our Windows 10 devices. Do we need to allow the following paths to be unrestricted ?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe 2017\*

C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Adobe\*

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\*

Or can they be locked down further?

Many thanks
