SCCM Deployment - keep old file associations

I'm setting up a SCCM offline deployment of Acrobat DC Pro. I don't want this to overwrite the users current default app setting - most users have it set to Acrobat Reader - nor do I want anything that will regularly overwrite their settings. Is there any way to set the installer to not overwrite the default apps for .pdf etc?

Because of hot-desking we have to deploy DC Pro to all desktops, but only a small number of users will actually use the product, the others will be using Reader for most of their pdf needs. I'd use a GPO to set the default to Reader, but that then complicates things for users who do use Pro or other program for PDF's.

Problem with adding IdP certificate with Acrobat

Hello

Maybe someone in here can assist me. So i am trying to get Single Sign On to work for our organization.

When in the configure directory section i follow the sets provided to copy the cert we use for our AD FS and when i click save i get an error saying

"There was a problem saving your configuration - check the values you entered and make sure you are uploading a valid (PEM base64-encoded X.509) certificate."

I did save the cert as a base64-encoded x.509 cert too from the FS server.

Is there anything else i could try or any other work around for this anyone might know?

Thank you

Adobe Acrobat SharePoint OpenDocuments Component

Ok so I've got a SharePoint 2013 environment on Server 2012 R2 and Adobe Acrobat 2017 standard edition on Windows 10

Working with Microsoft I've tweaked SharePoint so that when you click on a link to a pdf within SharePoint then it opens within Adobe Acrobat outside of the browser without issue.

When I select the same file and click edit though I get a pop-up message saying "We're sorry, we couldn't find a program to open this document".

According to the Microsoft tech the outstanding edit issue is because in the Manage-Add On section of IE / Edge the add on "Adobe Acrobat SharePoint OpenDocuments Component" is installed, but disabled and the option to enable is greyed out.

He indicates if I can get this add-on to work my error should go away. The difficult part is this is deployed enterprise why so I have to come up with a deployable solution.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Acrobat not Updating from Local Update Server

I've recently setup the local Adobe Update server and can successfully update my Creative Cloud applications on this one machine, but adobe acrobat will not point to the new server, it still shows in AdobeApplicationUpdater log that it is pointing to adobes web update site.  The problem is our firewall is blocking that and it is throwing me an error.  Is there any where I can change the update URL.  I have placed the

AdobeUpdater.Overrider file in

\ProgramData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\AdobeUpdater.Overrides

\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\UpdaterResources

because acrobat is not part of Creative Cloud do I need to play it in another location?

There is a password protected file in the Preflight folder created when installing Acrobat Reader. Is there a way to prevent this file from being generated? What is the .pfx file used for?

Acrobat Reader DC SCCM Deployment - Error Code 0x673(1651)

I'm trying to create a deployment via SCCM of the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for our organization, and I'm having some difficulty getting it to work properly.  Here are the steps I've taken:

  • Downloaded the executable for version 2017.012.20093 from Adobe's enterprise webpage and the patch for the latest release (2017.012.20098).
  • Extracted the executable to a new folder.
  • Opened the "AcroRead.msi" in Adobe Customization Wizard DC, customized the installer to my desired settings, and generated a transforms file named "AcroRead.mst" to the extracted folder.
  • Removed the "AcroRdrDCUpd1701220093.msp" from the extracted folder and replaced it with "AcroRdrDCUpd1701220098.msp".
  • Modified "setup.ini" as follows:
  • Copied the files to my SCCM application deployment share, which contains the following files:
  • Created a device collection and application in SCCM, distributed the content to my distribution points and deployed it.
  • The command line is as follows:
    • msiexec /i "AcroRead.msi" TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst" PATCH="\\<Deployment Share File Path>\AcroRdrDCUpd1701220098.msp" /q
  • Installation via SCCM is successful, but only on workstations that have a previously installed version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  Deployments to workstations that do not currently have an Adobe Reader program installed fail with the following error message:
  • Which translates to:
  • This tells me that my application is only installing the patch (AcroRdrDCUpd1701220098.msp) instead of the .msi followed by the .msp.  As such, the installed application does not include the custom settings which I configured for it in the AcroRead.mst.
  • I also tried running "setup.exe" from an administrative command prompt on my local machine, but it produced this error message:

I'd really appreciate any help or advice.

When will Adobe Reader AppConfig functionality return?

My organization is disappointed to find that the previously functional AppConfig settings are no longer functional.  We would like to use Adobe Reader on iOS to permit our users to have the best first party experience with PDF files.  However, we need to utilize some of the AppConfig settings to isolate the users ability to save to unsanctioned locations.

I see in previous posts that these settings are expected to return in 2019.  Is there any better update to this feature resumption?

Download for Acbobat 2017 STD, CustomizationWizard

When I log in to the Adobe site to download my recently purchased Acrobat 2017 (17.0) Standard and Pro MSI's, I'm given the same download - Acrobat_2017_Web_WWMUI.exe (same checksum as well) - which appears to only have the PRO MSI file. How do I get the MSI file for Acrobat STD?

Bonus question : Is there a current Adobe Customization Wizard that I can use to create custom transform files (MST's) to create custom installs for workstations (instead of users) that are installed by SCCM?

Sorry for multiple questions

How to Remove Register Your Product With Customization Wizard?

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to deploy Acrobat XI Pro with Group Policy to Windows 7 64 bit desktops on our domain.

It appears the GPO installed it on my test box but Acobat launches a 'Register Your Product' splash screen when it starts.   Have I missed something in the Adobe Customization Wizard XI?   I've entered the serial number and surpressed the EULA option.

Thanks

Ok, have adobe standard XI. end user needs Pro to redact sections of pdf's.

paid 199.00 for digital upgrade from standard to pro. download...execute...

error on starting setup. setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed....installation will now terminate.

I have 2 choices. the Go to hell adobe your product dont work, and process a refund.

or

try to get phone technical support.

Honestly why does adobe make it so difficult to work with them. My company needs digital signatures and i'd never use adobe. Adobe support is the worst in the IT industry imo and apparently their software developers cant determine that Pro is and UPGRADE from standard.

if anyone understands a work around i'd be interested in hearing but i can't say i've ever had an efficient experience with adobe and i wish i could find an alternative for adobe acrobat pro.

Hide/disable the attach to email/share files

Hi - Is it possible to disable or remove these for evey user? We use Adobe Reader X. I've read a few blogs saying you should use a JavaScript but the ones I've found don't work with this version. Doesn't look like they can be removed using the registry either and even AppSense can't lock them both out. The reason for doing this is that it sometimes hangs Outlook to the point where we have to kill it in task manager.

I have a citrix streamed vhd environment and I have created a install msi and also ran the aobe_prtk command to stop the adobe acrobat from asking to login. I have a product ID that is valid. The program no matter what I do still asks the users to login.

Acrobat Pro DC 15.006 will not read smart card

Hello family!

I am having a major issue with our Adobe Acrobat Pro DC! We are unable to sign any documents with our smart card. It does not recognize that there is a smart card plugged in at all. I have tried the trusted certificates, i have attempted to remove security (it's greyed out due to policy). We just got on windows 1709 win10 image and are struggling to get this resolved.

Here is the error:

The Windows Cryptographic Service Provider reported an error:

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Error Code:31

We have tried several smart card readers, tried changing the certs. Nothing is working. I did notice that the certificate I normally use has a yellow exlamation mark but even when selecting a good certificate and go to sign the document it does not see any cards in the reader.

Thoughts?

PDF User preferences with Roaming User Profiles

Hello,

We are having an issue in our environment that we haven't been able to resolve. We are running Windows Server 2012 R2 terminal servers and users are using Roaming profiles. The issue we are having is that if there is more than one PDF viewer installed on the terminal servers (Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader for example) when the user chooses a default PDF application, once they log off and back on, that default preference is lost. They once again have to select their default PDF viewer, every time they log in. If there is only one PDF application installed on the server, the setting is retained without an issue. Also, if you use a local profile, even with multiple PDF viewers installed, the default setting is retained without an issue. We've tried using GPP to set the registry key to set the default viewer, however, the value has a Deny Write value applied to it. We've also tried scripting an export and import of they key upon logoff and logon respectively, however, the same issue prevents that (the deny write value on the registry). HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.pdf\UserCh oice\Progid

We've contacted Microsoft support, and they told us this was a 3rd party issue because the only file extension with this problem is the .pdf file extension. We also setup a test environment with only roaming profiles GPO setup and were able to duplicate the issue and make sure there wasn't a GPO causing this problem. Any help or guidance you could provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Acrobat Pro 2017 Vs Acrobat DC Pro?

$

Are there separate Classic 2015 and 2017 versions of DC Pro like there are for Reader DC?

I'm trying to find and download the installation files for the Acrobat DC Pro 2017, but I can only find Acrobat Pro 2017, which I assume is the Continuous track that auto updates..

Many users don't have admin rights to install updates, so I don't know if the automatic updating in Pro 2017 will work for them.  If not, we need to disable updating and deploy the updates out via SCCM instead.

How do I remove temples?

Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC Cleaner Tool has stopped working...

I am in the process configuring an uninstaller for Adobe Reader in case we have failed installation within our company.  I found your cleaner tool, which is exactly what I needed!

However, after the tool completes the uninstall process (logs have finished being written), it crashes.  I have tested this on multiple computers.  Even if I run the tool without any adobe software installed, whenever it completes and you hit "Finish", it crashes.  If I run it silently, it crashes.

My machine is a Precision 3520 with Windows 10 1709.  However, this happened with a VM running 1709 as well.

Has anyone else experienced this?
