Adobe Customization Wizard X doesn't set Adobe Reader X to be default when customizing Acrobat X

$

I've recently started working with Adobe Customization Wizard X.

I've got Adobe Reader X customized and it's already installed all computers. Now, I'm working on customizing Adobe Acrobat X. During the customization, I only have the following 2 options:

1. Installer will decide which product will be the default

2. Make Acrobat the default PDF viewer

Choosing the 1st option, makes Acrobat as the default PDF viewer. In other words, I don't get an option to keep Adobe Reader X as the default on the existing computer.

Found a blog in Adobe site which suggests running Adobe Reader installation again after Acrobat is installed. Although it works, it just isn't a good solution (my opinion).

http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/03/installing-acrobat-x-and-reader-x-on-the-same- machine.html

Can you advise what're the registry setting that I can set during the Acrobat X customization so that it doesn't become the default PDF viewer.

Regards,

Parvez

Hiding Menu Items - Reader XI

$

I have used the Customization Wizard for XI and created an MST that turns off all of the "Online Services", plus a HideMenu.js and registry key entries to hide several menu items.

There are 3 menu items that I have been unable to discover how to hide:

1. The "Sign, add text or send a document for signature" button on the tools menu.

2. The "Sign" item at the far right of the toolbar.

3. The "Get Documents Signed..." File menu item.

They all seem to open the "Sign" menu bar with the "Work with Certificates" menu. All  items under 'Work with Certificates" are grayed out.

I have tried several entries in the HideMenu.js that came up in a Google searches, but not luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am just rolling out Acrobat Pro DC. I had installed it on our 2008R2 Terminal Server but it kept asking users to Sign-in every two days. I spoke with Acrobat Support and we created a Custom installation using the Wizard however this won't install on Terminal Server. I keep getting Error:28000

Is there something new about installing on Terminal Servers?

can acrobat std DC be deployed via the userconfig.xml as opposed to globally?

Telling the difference between Standard and Pro

Hello,

I have to hand it to Adobe - I've never come across and application that sells 2 separate versions, with a cost difference of over $100, that they intentionally made it nearly impossible to distinguish between one another.

We use SCCM, and from what I can tell, Adobe Acrobat DC Pro & Standard both have the same GUID, version number, and display name.  How in the world are we supposed to accurately track our licenses?  We use ServiceNow's Software Asset Management module, integrated with SCCM, to manage software licenses.  It can't tell a difference, and even I as a human, and a 10 year IT Pro, can't either.

Can someone please tell me how I am to accurately manage my Acrobat DC software licenses?

Thank you

The following error is produced in Acrobat when trying to click version history documents in SharePoint 2010. "The URL you have provided could not be reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location is reachable." The revision of the document is reachable, but through typical HTTP via a web browser...but not through the SharePoint <==> Acrobat X Pro COM object magic that works fine for currently checked out documents. Please see inserted image. Thoughts on a fix?

Acrobat Reader DC - auto defaults to .PDF viewer

I work in an enterprise environment that supports around 1200 computers.  I have about 80 users that have various versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro installed on their office computers.

When we upgraded our reader product to DC and deployed it, all of the computers with Acrobat Pro installed had their default viewer changed from Acrobat Pro to Reader DC.  I have not had this issue with other previous versions of Adobe Reader.

I have the Adobe Customization Tool set to "Installer will decide which product will be the default."

Capture.PNG

It is my understanding that with this selection, the installer will set the default .PDF viewer to the most secure version. (of course this is going to be the new Reader DC program)

I have already found a registry change that removed the welcome screen.  Are there any other fixes, flag, switches that I can take advantage of to have the installer not change the users default viewer?

I have a lot  of users that work only with Acrobat Pro and get a bit upset when their default viewer changes.  Our technicians have to remote into the individual computers and switch the default viewer manually.  If we had to do this each time Adobe releases an update, it would not be a sufficient use of resources.  I would like more control over this.  What are my options?

How do i stop the Sign in prompt for Acrobat pro DC 2015

We are just after updating from Acrobat 11 to Acrobat PRO DC. Ever since the upgrade users have been complaining that they are been prompted to sign into acrobat. I have read that by using the "Adobe Provisioning Toolkit" that you can remove this sign-on requirement.

However i am having a problem with getting the "Adobe Provisioning Toolkit" as we bought the licenses via a re-seller. I do not have access to the Adobe licensing portal to get the tool.

Is this the correct way to remove this sign on requirement and if so where can i get access to the provisioning toolkit?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Hello,

I receive the error message below when trying to install 11.0.20.

I have followed all of the instructions that have been used in our office the past.

My initial extraction if from: AcrobatPro_11_Web_WWMUI.exe (file date 3/7/2013)

I am testing the install by using the following before I try a GPO deployment.

C:\Windows\system32>msiexec /i C:\AdobeProTransform\AcroPro11020\AcroPro.msi TRA

NSFORMS=AcroPro.mst

Running Adobe Cleaner does not help.

this Adobe Kb does not help either: Internal error 2753 when installing Acrobat or Reader

Please let me know what additional information you need.

thank you

Hide/disable the attach to email/share files

Hi - Is it possible to disable or remove these for evey user? We use Adobe Reader X. I've read a few blogs saying you should use a JavaScript but the ones I've found don't work with this version. Doesn't look like they can be removed using the registry either and even AppSense can't lock them both out. The reason for doing this is that it sometimes hangs Outlook to the point where we have to kill it in task manager.

How can I get Adobe Acrobat SharePoint opendocuments component plug-in? It does not show in IE11 All Add-ons

I am trying to get PDFs to open in either Adobe Pro or Reader from within SharePoint. It seems like the only viable alternative is to install the Adobe Acrobat SharePoint opendocuments component on our systems.  I have looked online to find the plugin but cannot locate it.  There was a posting that I read, that suggested that it is installed during the Adobe install.  It was not installed on my system, and I cannot find it anywhere in the IE 11 Add-On manager looking at All Add-Ons. Another post said that the add-on would become visible once a SharePoint document is opened. That does not happen. Another post recommended that the DOCIcon.xml file should be modified. That cannot happen, as modifying that file changes the PDF opening behavior on the entire Farm, and I want this to be limited to just one site. Thoughts?

How to patch Acrobat Standard DC

$

Trying to follow same exact steps to update Acrobat Standard DC that I've used with Acrobat Standard X and not having success. Was hoping someone could weigh in, tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I've downloaded the "base" installer (Acrobat_2015_Web_WWMUI.exe) from the Adobe Licensing website. I extract it, and am left with bunch of different files, including the AcroPro.msi file, which is version 15.006.30033 according to Orca and the Adobe Customization Wizard.

I then downloaded the latest quarterly patch (Classic Track - Acrobat2015Upd1500630094.msp) from the Adobe Downloads site.

From a command prompt, I ran the following:

msiexec /a d:\adobe\acropro.msi /update Acrobat2015Upd1500630094.msp

After a minute or so the update completes. I check the version of the AcroPro.msi file and it now reports 15.006.30094.

I deploy using Group Policy, but here is where the installation fails. There is an error message in the Windows Application log stating, "Product: Adobe Acrobat DC -- Error 1334.The file 'dropboxstorage.api' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."

I remember a while back having this problem (missing files in the Data1.cab) and it being the result of my trying to apply the quarterly patch to an already patched MSI, rather than applying the quarterly patch to the base MSI file. But as far as I can tell, that's not happening here - I'm applying the patch to the base MSI.

Thoughts?

How can we change the Certified Plugins option to NO?

$

How can we change the Certified Plugins option to NO?  It's randomly changing to YES on some of our machines and not allowing Adobe Reader or Acrobat to open when EMC IRM plugin is installed.  Registry option is preferred as checking the box, saving, restarting app, unchecking, saving and restarting the app does not resolve the problem.

Thanks!

Acrobat DC Enterprise Licensing on provisioned Citrix Terminal Server issues

Hello,

We are running into an issue with XA7.6 on PVS 7.6 and Server 2012 R2. I can key the master machine, but the provisioned targets are challenging users for the activation key. I downloaded the latest version of the Adobe Application Manager from the Using Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition link and installed it. After installing the tool (no errors), the adobe_prtk.exe utility doesn't show up any where on the hard drive. I found and older version of the tool and installed that. The adobe_prtk.exe file did show up, but when I tried to run the command-line string with the key and leid to generate the prov.eml file I get an error 14. We opened a ticket with Adobe over a week ago and can't seem to get anyone to call us. When we try to talk to support we get run in circles. It is very frustrating as you might imagine and the client is livid at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
