Acrobat pro X error: Cannot use this product under a guest account

We are installing acrobat pro with GP on XP systems. The install goes fine but on some users machines when they launch the program it comes back with

"Cannot use this product under a guest account". The users are admins on the system. If I uninstall acrobat pro 10 and reinstall in manually the same error happens. (note these systems had acrobat pro 9 installed, but was un-installed with the acrobat pro 10 MST)

11.0.2 MSI not installing properly

So I have downloaded the most recent version of Adobe Reader 11.0.2. I extraced the contents and edited the MSI using the Adobe Customization Wizard.

My issue is this. When I install using the command msiexec /i file.msi TRANSFORMS=file.mst /qn It will install Adobe Reader 11.0.0 with all of the customizations that were created in the .mst file. Why is it not installing 11.0.2? If I run the .exe file it installs 11.0.2 but if I run the .msi file it only installs version 11.0.0. Any help would be great. Thanks.

How to patch Acrobat Standard DC

Trying to follow same exact steps to update Acrobat Standard DC that I've used with Acrobat Standard X and not having success. Was hoping someone could weigh in, tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I've downloaded the "base" installer (Acrobat_2015_Web_WWMUI.exe) from the Adobe Licensing website. I extract it, and am left with bunch of different files, including the AcroPro.msi file, which is version 15.006.30033 according to Orca and the Adobe Customization Wizard.

I then downloaded the latest quarterly patch (Classic Track - Acrobat2015Upd1500630094.msp) from the Adobe Downloads site.

From a command prompt, I ran the following:

msiexec /a d:\adobe\acropro.msi /update Acrobat2015Upd1500630094.msp

After a minute or so the update completes. I check the version of the AcroPro.msi file and it now reports 15.006.30094.

I deploy using Group Policy, but here is where the installation fails. There is an error message in the Windows Application log stating, "Product: Adobe Acrobat DC -- Error 1334.The file 'dropboxstorage.api' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."

I remember a while back having this problem (missing files in the Data1.cab) and it being the result of my trying to apply the quarterly patch to an already patched MSI, rather than applying the quarterly patch to the base MSI file. But as far as I can tell, that's not happening here - I'm applying the patch to the base MSI.

Thoughts?

How can we change the Certified Plugins option to NO?

How can we change the Certified Plugins option to NO?  It's randomly changing to YES on some of our machines and not allowing Adobe Reader or Acrobat to open when EMC IRM plugin is installed.  Registry option is preferred as checking the box, saving, restarting app, unchecking, saving and restarting the app does not resolve the problem.

Thanks!

HKCU Registry Key Not Being Set When Using Adobe Customization Wizard for Reader DC

$

I'm trying to do a custom install of Adobe Reader DC using the customization wizard. I would like to set some HKCU registry keys to disable certain things in Reader DC. For some reason, the registry keys are not being set in HKCU after the install. There's a similar thread here https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1849422, but according to Rave, an Adobe employee, this issue was resolve with the latest version of the Customization Wizard. I tried and I'm still experiencing the same issue. I don't know if this matters, but I'm trying to install Adobe Reader DC on a 64bit Windows 7 Enterprise machine.

Customization version is 15.010.20056. HKCU keys have been set in customization wizard.

1.png

After the install, the RegistryHiveName key is still present in HKLM\Software\wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader

2.png

None of the HKCU entries are added after launching Reader DC for the first time.

Any help would be really appreciated.

What are the current SCUP catalog urls for Reader DC /10/11 and Adobe Acrobat?

Dear all,

I have trouble publishing updates with SCUP right now. Catalog for Adobe flash player works fine, but all reader and Adobe Acrobat catalogs seem to wrong.

As advised on this website SCCM-SCUP — Enterprise Administration Guide  I used the catalog adress http://armmf.adobe.com/manifest/arm-manifests/win/SCUP/AcrobatCatalog-2015.cab  for publishing the Reader DC.

Import works, but when trying to publish I get the following error in MS SCUP:

PublishItem: Download Content: Failed to download file 'http://armdl.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/Acrobat2015/1500630243/Acrobat2015Upd15006302 43.msp'.

What's the correct catalog adress for Reader DC/10/11 and Adobe Acrobat 10 and 11?

Thanks a lot!

Sebastian

How to update or patch Adobe Reader DC without local admin rights

$

We are about to deploy Adobe Reader DC in an enterprise environment where none of the users has local admin rights on their desktops.  Updating and patching typically requires that users are local administrators on their PC, but that is not allowed in this corporate environment.  If set to install updates automatically, do you know if Adobe Reader DC updates & patches will get installed on these computers?  If not, is there any other way to get these updates installed, either by using an Adobe tool or otherwise a 3rd party solution?

Acrobat DC Enterprise Licensing on provisioned Citrix Terminal Server issues

Hello,

We are running into an issue with XA7.6 on PVS 7.6 and Server 2012 R2. I can key the master machine, but the provisioned targets are challenging users for the activation key. I downloaded the latest version of the Adobe Application Manager from the Using Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition link and installed it. After installing the tool (no errors), the adobe_prtk.exe utility doesn't show up any where on the hard drive. I found and older version of the tool and installed that. The adobe_prtk.exe file did show up, but when I tried to run the command-line string with the key and leid to generate the prov.eml file I get an error 14. We opened a ticket with Adobe over a week ago and can't seem to get anyone to call us. When we try to talk to support we get run in circles. It is very frustrating as you might imagine and the client is livid at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

adobe_prtk.exe --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial="<ENTER SERIAL #HERE>" --leid="<ENTER LEID #HERE>" --regsuppress=ss --eulasuppress

Acrobat DC doesn't work with FileMaker after Windows and Adobe updates

$

We are using Acrobat Pro DC on several computers in our company (both Windows 7 and 10).  We also use FileMaker (versions 14 and 15) which has container fields that we place pdf files into.  FileMaker displays the pdfs in the container fields using a combination of Internet Explorer and the default pdf viewer (Acrobat in our case).  Last week after the Windows and Adobe updates we started getting this error:

"There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.  If it is running please exit and try again (9:9)."

and FileMaker crashes after hitting OK in the error message box.

I fixed a Windows 7 PC by disabling the Adobe Reader add-on in Internet Explorer.  However, the Adobe Reader add-on does not show up in any of the Add-on lists when I go to Manage Add-Ons in Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 10 PC.  I uninstalled Acrobat, ran a registry cleaner, then reinstalled an older version of Acrobat DC and the pdfs in container fields show up in FileMaker until Acrobat updates and the error message comes back.

I contacted FileMaker tech support and they said it sounded like an Adobe issue, so they weren't much help.

Has anyone else had this FileMaker / Adobe issue?  It sounds similar to the problems described in another thread https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2221850

Plug-ins Don't Work in Reader XI; Work Fine in Reader X

$

We're looking to upgrade from Reader 9.x to Reader XI.  A bunch of us in IT have been running Reader X without issue for some time so we didn't anticipate any problems with XI. I tested the upgrade process on a machine with 9.x and although it worked fine, none of our add-ins worked.  I performed the following on a machine with XI with no positive results:

  • Performed repair or 'modify' installations of the applications in question that load add-ins/plug-ins into Adobe
  • I verified the .API files were in in the proper location
    • One plugin (caseMap) goes into reader\plug_ins
    • Another plugin (Interwoven) goes into reader\plug_ins\Interwoven
  • Verified protected mode was disabled via registry
    • reg add "HKEY_USERS\DefUser\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\Privileged" /v bProtectedMode /t reg_dword /d 0 /f

Again: Going from 9.x to X we don't have a problem, and usually adding the .API file is all that's necessary to get the plug-in working again.  But when going from 9.x to XI or X to XI, the plug-ins no longer work.

Has something drastically changed between X and XI that would make these add-ins cease to function?

I've reached out to the vendors & am awaiting responses.  In the mean time, is there anything I failed to check or something else I can do?

How to Remove Register Your Product With Customization Wizard?

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to deploy Acrobat XI Pro with Group Policy to Windows 7 64 bit desktops on our domain.

It appears the GPO installed it on my test box but Acobat launches a 'Register Your Product' splash screen when it starts.   Have I missed something in the Adobe Customization Wizard XI?   I've entered the serial number and surpressed the EULA option.

Thanks

Deploying Adobe Acrobat Pro XI in a VDI environment

$

In our VDI environment (using VMware Horizon View 5.3), we are using a Windows 8.1 base image (Parent VM) with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on it (signed-in and registered). We then deploy new instances (Linked-Clones) of Windows 8.1

using this base. When userA logs into any desktops we have deployed from this Windows 8.1 base image, they get prompted to license the software: 1) Sign in and 2) Provide serial number.

Even though UserA licenses the software properly on DesktopA, they get prompted for the same licensing information on DesktopB and so on.

I have tried to virtualize the application using VMware View ThinApp. Same issue.

What is the proper way to distribute the application to multiple systems/users without running into this licensing loop?

I have read this post, but no luck: Packaging Adobe Acrobat XI Pro - Bug after installation

Thanks.

Reader DC - Bad Quality (Icons, Images, ...)

Hello,

I have installed latest Adobe Reader DC in my test-Environment running on Windows Server 2016 and Citrix XenApp 7.13.

The graphic-quality is bad in Reader. Especially the Icons in the main toolbar look shabby.
Have a look at the screenshot:

AdobeDC.png

I tried some settings like "bAntialiasGraphics", "bAntialiasImages" and so on, but there was no improvement.

I did also open up a few PDFs and noticed, that the Image quality is also bad.

Does anybody have an idea on how to improve this?

Additional I noticed, that Adobe Reader DC uses ist own mouse-cursor-set. (black-cursor, hand, ...)

Is it possible to prevent the Reader to change the cursors?

Thank you!

how to install acrobat dc on terminal server

I am just rolling out Acrobat Pro DC. I had installed it on our 2008R2 Terminal Server but it kept asking users to Sign-in every two days. I spoke with Acrobat Support and we created a Custom installation using the Wizard however this won't install on Terminal Server. I keep getting Error:28000

Is there something new about installing on Terminal Servers?

Unable to access ims-na1.adobelogin.comwebsite during atempt to install Adobe Acrobat DC

Hello,

while attempting to activate licence for Adobe Acrobat we were stoped by error saying that website ims-na1.adobelogin.com could not be resolved.

After investigating the issue we found, that the problem is related to resolving given domain name trough our company DNS server.

It seems that Windows 2012 R2 DNS server refuse to resolve given name when "Enable DNSSEC validation for remote responses" option is enabled altough the given DNS record does not have any DNSSEC values.

Are there any sugestions how to workaround around this issue?

From what I have read on forum about posibilities, I can state that:

- use of another dns server is not an option because we use Active directory domain

- other dns servers are blocked on company perimeter firewall

Adobe Reader 11 to Adobe Reader DC through Group Policy

Hi, I setup a group policy to install Adobe Reader 11.10 when people turn on their PCs.

To update those installations to Adobe Reader DC what should I do?

Do I setup a new group policy for Adobe Reader DC, or do I add an MSI to the existing group policy?

Many Thanks
