Problems With Customization Wizard From 10.1.0 to 10.1.3

I have been working on a custom installation of Acrobat Reader to roll-out to >200 workstations in our field offices.  This project is not my primary domain, but I understand the steps involved. I am running into a roadblock getting from 10.1.0 to 10.1.3.

I understand how to:

*Unpack the .exe

*Create the customization file with the Wizard

*Repack the .exe

However when I reassemble the files, and run the .exe, it keeps me at 10.1.0.  For some reason it doesn't seem to be registering the .msp file.  I have reviewed various threads on this topic, but frankly none of the explanations make sense.

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

Enterprise license

For the past few years I have been using the enterprise licensing to deploy Flash, Acrobat etc. Well recently Adobe finally did away with their public download links. I have applied for the enterprise license like I do every year but I have not received a response from Adobe. It has been just over a month and computers are having issues due to not being updated.

I tried to contact support but support does not exist for this purpose. Can anyone think get ahold of support to push my case through??

Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Windows Terminal Server 2008

Hi All,

Im hoping some one maybe able to help me on this, We have recently purchased the Adobe Acrobat X Pro for one of our clients and have just installed it onto their Windows 2008 x32 Terminal server. Inatall appeared to be fine, no errors reported and nothing logged into the event viewer. However we seem to be having issues with it... I did read a PDF guide early last week that said the X Pro should work fine on a Server 2008 - The install instructions where rather straight forward and I thought their would have been more to it than just installing it via the control panel.

The issue we have is the program opens up ok and is usable for about a min and it then crashes with no obvious reason, From looking in the event log it appears to report issues with the PDApp.exe and the Kernel32.dll - Has anyone come across any similar issues?

Many Thanks

Adobe Reader 11 to Adobe Reader DC through Group Policy

Hi, I setup a group policy to install Adobe Reader 11.10 when people turn on their PCs.

To update those installations to Adobe Reader DC what should I do?

Do I setup a new group policy for Adobe Reader DC, or do I add an MSI to the existing group policy?

Many Thanks

Adobe Reader DC - ADelRCP.exe prompts for admin rights

I've deployed Adobe Reader DC using the msi and transform created with the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC.

It install fine but when users first run Reader they are prompted for an administrator credentials because the program C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\ADelRCP.exe is trying to run.

Our users do have local admin rights.  How do I prevent this popup occuring on Reader startup and what does this ADelRCP.exe do?

Silent install of acrobat 9 that will prompt for serial number

I need to roll out a number of client computers from Dell using their Image Direct program. We order an acrobat license with each computer and when we get the computer from Dell with the Dell image it comes pre-installed with acrobat 9 and the first time you run the program it prompts you for the serial which is on the acrobat cd that is included. I would like to replicate that with the custom image we put on there to load at the factory.

Currently with our imaging setup I replicated that by installing with a serial number then deactivating and removing the serial number before imaging. When we restored the image and started acrobat 9 it again prompted for the serial which allowed us to put in the unique serial number that comes with the computer.

I don't have that option with Image Direct as I can't pre-install acrobat due to virtual drivers so the only way to add it to image is to upload a silent install package and scipt it to install during the image build. This means I don't have a chance to deactivate the serial number used for install before it gets to end user.

Is there a way around this without going to enterprise licensing and being able to use the same serial number on all installs?

Hello everyone

I installed Adobe Acrobat on a Terminal Server. During the installation i choosed the language "German". Now every user has Adobe Acrobat in German.

Now i would check is there a language pack for adobe acrobat 8.0.0 in english so the user can set their own language to use adobe acrobat.

Is that possible or is there another good possibilty?

Thanks a lot for your help

Staff: Why is there no offline installer for 10.1.5? The patch doesn't work for me.

Hi, I'm trying to update Adobe Reader 10.1.4 on a 32-bit Windows XP SP3 computer to Adobe Reader 10.1.5. The Adobe Reader Updater downloaded the update but it tells me:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"

It's looking for AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\ARM\Reader_10.0.1\ but it can't find it.

Normally in a situation like this I could just download the offline installer, and as an enterprise user I want to do that anyway. Yet it appears there's no offline installers in ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.5/ like for example AdbeRdr1015_en_US.exe or AdbeRdr1015_en_US.msi. On Adobe's pages for both enterprise and home users it only offers 10.1.4 as the older version prior to 11, not 10.1.5 as one would expect.

What's going on with this? Am I the only one who's noticed either of these things? I suppose on that one computer I'll have to download AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi and place it in that directory where the patch is looking for it.

Thanks for any help

Creating table of contents for print in Acrobat Pro DC?

$

I'm testing Acrobat Pro DC to see if it will meet our needs.  I need to be able to combine a number of documents into 1 PDF (which I know how to do) and would like to be able to create a TOC for those combined documents.  Sales said this was possible, but I can't seem to find any instruction on how to do this.

Why, Adobe, WHY??

Everytime I turn a corner trying to deploy this application to an enterprise, I'm always hit with another stupid little nag from Adobe.  First, it's auto updating.  Then, it's the registration screen that never goes away.  NOW, it's a prompt in the notification center to "Claim my benefit" and "continue updating my profile".  I don't want all my users getting this prompt!  They don't NEED any benefits, and they don't NEED to update the profile for the generic login I had to create to register this product to make that nag screen go away.

HOW CAN I END THIS MADNESS??

I just want to install Adobe products, deploy them silently, and just WORK for the end user without having to jump through all these hoops to disable this and that which would normally be great for any consumer user.  Geesh.

I'm hoping that this is a simple reg edit?  Hoping??

Thanks.

(Sorry for the rant.  I've just spent a lot of time lately trying to get this to deploy and not nag users with things they don't need to know.)

Error: 213:11

My Enterprise PC does not allow regular user to have write access to C:\ProgramData folder. I ran ProcMon and found that the error is due to an ACCESS_DENIED to CreateFile(). The process is requesting write access to a temp file in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore. Can Adobe patch the program to work with only READ access to C:\ProgramData? Or change the write access path to some folders in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData?

Install Adobe updates via WSUS and ignore UAC restrictions

Hi

My company has currently set new UAC security settings but we have an issue where we are not able to update Adobe products because UAC stops it, UAC also does not prompt for elevation it just out right blocks updates.

We really need a way to either allow the updater to run/install past the UAC restrictions OR find a way to distribute adobe updates via WSUS if it's possible

Thanks

Deploy Reader DC

I have tried to use MSIEXEC to install the AcroRead.msi via a batch file. This doesn't seem to want to install quietly without user interaction. Has anyone been able to deploy this quietly? Can someone help me out with this?

Reader X install

I have read discussions about this but nothing concise.

Here is my dilemma, I am wanting to configure Reader X through GPO, thats not an issue since I can install it with Acrobat X.  Where the issue comes is that all my Acrobat users are not on Acrobat X, some are on earlier versions.  Since Reader X can co-exist with Acrobat X, can it exist on the same machine with earlier versions of Acrobat?  Do both versions need to be 'X' or better for this to happen?

Michael

Adobe Reader msi file lock behavior

$

Currently when running the install silently and the installation is unable to modify a file due to a file lock it's default behavior is to back out and exit\abort. Is there a way to have the installation retry rather than immediately exiting? I suppose this may be more of a question for Microsoft since Adobe's install is an msi but I figured I would ask here anyways.

Creating AIP for Acrobat DC 1502020042

I am trying to roll out Acrobat Reader 1502020042 to address this issue

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/acrobat-dc-november-03-2016.html

We are only a small company and deploy software using GPO.  Unfortunately I have not been able to create a valid installer to use.

The method I am using is to download ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/1500720033/AcroRdrDC1500720033_MUI.exe and ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/1502020042/AcroRdrDCUpd1502020042_MUI.m sp

I extract the base installer using the command "AcroRdrDC1500720033_MUI.exe -sfx_o'D:\AdobeRdrDC' -sfx_ne" and then apply the patch using "msiexec /a 'D:\AdobeRdrDC\AcroRead.msi' /p AcroRdrDCUpd1502020042_MUI.msp"

No errors are reported during this process but when I run the resulting msi file the install fails while copying files with the message " Error 1334.  The file 'natives_blob.bin' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file 'Data1.cab' ".

I have also tried the classic track and this fails with a similar error but about a drop box extension instead.

I have tried downloading AcroRdrDC1500720033_en_US.msi instead of the exe but was unable to patch it with AcroRdrDCUpd1502020042.msp I got an error saying "The upgrade patch cannot be installed ... the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program".

Please help this is driving me crazy!!
